St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society is a Lay Society for the purpose of fostering vocations to the priesthood. It was established in 1895. Mrs Olivia Mary Taaffe, a native of Co. Louth, founded the Society in Ireland. It was her devotion to St. Joseph that gave the Society its title. Through her hard work and the dedication of her many associates and friends, branches were set up in Ireland to give prayerful and financial help to many young people aspiring to the priesthood and religious life. The Tullow Branch was set up in 1982. The members meet once a month to pray together. Each year a Coffee Morning is held to raise funds for this worthy cause. All monies raised and donated are sent to the Central Office in Dublin.
